A day at squirrels
Step into the vibrant world of Squirrels Childminding, where every day is an adventure filled with laughter, learning, and discovery. From imaginative play to outdoor explorations and creative crafts, Squirrels is a nurturing environment where children thrive and make lasting memories.

Adventures indoors
Inside, our days are packed with excitement! Children can dive into worlds of make-believe with dressing up and role-playing as cafe owners, shopkeepers, police officers, or even builders and garage mechanics. Creativity blossoms with baking, painting, colouring, playdough, and junk modelling. We also love building magnificent structures with Lego, Duplo, and Magna-tiles, or having a blast with bowling, dancing, party games, and hide-and-seek.

Outdoor explorations
Whatever the weather, our garden becomes an arena for outdoor fun! Children love conquering jumping courses and obstacle courses, or getting creative building with tyres, crates, and drainpipes. The sand tray and paddling pool are always popular, and we regularly enjoy sports games like football, basketball, hockey, and badminton (garden style!). Our mud kitchen sparks culinary imagination, and budding gardeners can get their hands dirty with planting and growing.

Our daily rhythm
A typical day begins around 8:30 am with quiet activities like colouring or playdough until everyone arrives. We then gather in the sitting room on our coloured bean bags for a register, morning greetings, news sharing, and a chat about the day. Our days-of-the-week and months-of-the-year songs, help us learn about the calendar and lead to discussions about the weather and the changing seasons.
Mornings are spent with free play or engaging craft activities. At 10 am, we tidy up, wash hands, and enjoy a healthy snack before heading outside.
Lunch is a jolly, sociable time at 12 pm, with the children enjoying their own packed lunches around the table, and is followed by quiet time with books or a short TV programme, the younger ones sometimes have a little power nap then too.
Afternoons might be spent indoors or out, often leading to baking around 2:30 pm, with snack time at 3:15 pm to enjoy our delicious creations.
A big tidy up just before 4 pm leads into story time. Most children leave at 4:30 pm, with those staying later enjoying board games until 5 or 5:30 pm.
